Because the name of USB 3.03.1 is too confusing, it has been included in the latest naming specification of USB 3.2!

For computer users around the world, USB sockets are already a necessity for many hardware. However, as data transmission technology continues to advance, USB sockets have also evolved through many generations. Now with the launch of the latest USB 3.2, USB-IF has also announced the latest USB product naming specifications, canceling the existing USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 and changing them to "USB 3.2 Gen 1" and "USB 3.2 Gen 2". Many users feel very confused.

According to the latest naming convention announced by USB-IF, the existing USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 will be officially renamed USB 3.2, and distinguished by Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 2×2. In fact, USB 3.0 was launched as early as January 2008, providing a speed of 5Gbps, which is several times faster than the previous USB 2.0 speed. Officially called it SuperSpeed.

Until 2013, USB-IF launched 10Gbps USB 3.1 again. At that time, they had renamed USB 3.0 to "USB 3.1 Gen 1", and 10Gbps USB 3.1 to "USB 3.1 Gen 2". Now with the launch of USB 3.2 with a transmission speed of 20 Gbps, officials have once again changed the names of USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 to "USB 3.2 Gen 1" and "USB 3.2 Gen 2".

Officially released in September 2017, USB 3.2, which can use two USB Type-C Rx/Tx pins, will be renamed "USB 3.2 Gen 2×2". The characteristic is that in addition to being usable on both sides, it can also increase the transmission speed to 20Gbps. As the models change, the names used in marketing will also be different. Officials and hardware manufacturers will promote the USB 3.0 series sockets as "SuperSpeed USB", "SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps" and "SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps".
